In order to reach certain goals, it’s not only important to be eating the right amount of energy (calories) but also the right ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fats. For example, if you are eating too little protein, but working out intensely on a regular basis, you may not be consuming enough protein to maximize protein synthesis for muscle mass. In addition, eating an imbalance of macronutrients can affect your appetite, hormone levels, energy levels and nutrient consumption. When you begin to focus on the 2 main macronutrients and building balanced meals with them, you may find that you’re able to meet your nutritional needs better.
